Basic skill development forms a main focus on the programme and literacy and numeracy sessions are delivered to enhance your knowledge and confidence in these areas.

How long does training take?
The training programme length varies depending on individual need, but can be up to 22 weeks. Young people are in small groups, generally with a tutor working with around 12 young people at any one time. |

What happens next?
After a friendly and informal interview you will be invited to a taster day. This taster session is designed to give an insight into how the training programme is run and the content of the programme. Then an Individual Training Plan is drawn up taking into account the needs of the individual. We expect Learners to attend a full programme, as identified with the Tutor, at agreed hours between Monday to Friday.
We recognise achievement, however small, at each step of the way.
Through work experience we help develop your interpersonal and employability skills. There is even a chance to achieve an employability qualification in the early stages of your programme. |

What will I have to do?
In order that the aims of the programme are achieved, each day, work is geared to ensure the basic key skills of communication (both written and spoken), application of number and information technology are covered. There are taster sessions run by vocational experts who will give you a chance to try out different trades/skills whilst on the programme.
The day is divided into small enjoyable sessions incorporating practical tasks. We are delighted to be able to offer experienced Youth Workers to support each group intermittently throughout the programme. A series of one-day courses is also offered including First Aid, Health & Safety, and Customer Service all of which are certificated. |

Can training be tailored to my requirements?
A lot depends on the needs of the individual, but Learners may receive additional support for basic skills, if required. We also support young people with any personal issues through the support of a trained counsellor. |

Does it involve work experience?
We arrange for all Learners to undertake work experience as soon as they have demonstrated to us that they can attend each day, on time, and can work safely on employer premises. This gives valuable experience to put on a CV and increases the chance of success at the end of the programme. Training is given on creating a meaningful CV, job applications and interview skills. Performance is reviewed each week and new goals set as progress is made. |
